Latercut’s First 6 Months: A Quick Look at Our Biggest Wins
Jan 7th, 2025When we first set out to build Latercut, we had a simple vision: to make faceless video creation not just possible, but downright fun. It was June when we began laying the groundwork.
We started by refining our user interface, creating a landing page that clearly showed off Latercut’s potential, and designing a pricing page that made everything easy to understand.
Around that time, we also launched on Product Hunt to gather early feedback. Seeing people test out Latercut and share their thoughts was exhilarating—and it guided us as we set up a secure login system (including OAuth) and began shaping the core dashboard.
By July, we were determined to streamline content creation and editing. We knew people didn’t want to juggle extra tools or spend time clicking through complex menus. So we built a flexible backbone for storing content, introduced an even simpler dashboard layout, and created a built-in editor that let users craft videos right inside Latercut.
No extra software required. We could feel the momentum growing.
August rolled in, bringing a wave of AI-powered storytelling features. We turned our sights to building a Chat Story template, so anyone could produce text-chat-style videos in a snap.
Then we took things up a notch by integrating AI-generated voices—what we called AI Google Speeches—directly into the platform. No more exporting files or juggling different apps. We also added video export and thumbnail previews, so creators could see exactly what their final videos would look like before sharing them with the world.
As we moved into September, our focus shifted to user credits and advanced options. We rolled out a clear credit system so people could keep track of AI usage without confusion.
We also integrated ElevenLabs AI, offering premium voice choices for those who wanted to take their faceless videos up a notch. In-app support came online as well, ensuring that help was always at users’ fingertips. We also redesigned the landing page to show Latercut’s benefits in a sleek, modern way.
November arrived, and we pushed hard on performance and onboarding. We introduced cookie consent for greater transparency and worked tirelessly to achieve near-instant load times—hitting that 98% performance score felt like a huge win.
We also smoothed out the new-user onboarding process, making it easier for people to jump right in and start creating. And we added an at-a-glance view of how credits were spent, making it simple for users to see where their resources were going.
Finally, in December, we reached some of our most exciting milestones. Subscriptions went live, complete with Stripe integration and real payment handling, so people could easily buy, cancel, or switch their plans.
We introduced a flow for buying and refilling credits, too, keeping everything as frictionless as possible. New video templates, including a Reddit Story format, began rolling out, and we significantly cut the wait times for Chat Story creation. To top it all off, we refined our branding with updated styles, fonts, and colors. It was the perfect way to close out the year: celebrating how far we’d come and looking forward to everything yet to come.
These six months have been nothing short of exhilarating. We’ve poured our hearts into making Latercut the ultimate platform for quick, frictionless, and—yes—fun faceless video creation. We’re beyond grateful for everyone who’s joined us on this journey, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
